Viewers of the material on this resource platform are not equipped to train others nor supervise any ABA programmes. Furthermore, the strategies outlined on the website will not be sufficient for a complete ABA programme and we at Early Autism Project Malaysia strongly encourage families to seek qualified ABA treatment from supervised professionals.

    May Allah bless you and your son. He is a gift to you by Allah to make you better people. I know this for fact because my son is also autistic. I thank Allah everyday for him. I'm from France where the education system is struggling to hire specialized educators for challenged kids. I'm thinking about moving to Malaysia but I'm afraid of the language barrier, even though my son has a talent for acquiring new languages, after being non verbal for the first 7 years of his life (He's 11 today). Are there any arrangements possible for foreigners? May Allah reward you.

      Hello, thank you for reaching out and for sharing. We would encourage to show your child visuals that pee pee goes into the toilet and pair a strong reinforcement with this (eg: his favourite chocolate or video which can only be accessed if he pees in the toilet and will not be able to obtain it outside of this routine to maintain its motivation). We also encourage to use the First Then board to communicate clear expectations to your child that first pee pee in toilet, then reward. We also encourage for you to try out the Big Day practice as shared in the video where your child is brought to the toilet on a schedule. We hope that these have been helpful. Do reach out to us at enquiries@autismmalaysia.com should you have further questions or discuss further strategies with one of our team. Thank you.

    • @autismmalaysia
      @autismmalaysia 3 місяці тому

      Hi, thank you for reaching out. We would recommend to look out for precursor behaviors and take note of certain triggers that may lead to the behaviors then prompt the child to communicate at the onset of the behavior before it escalates. We highly encourage to focus on preventing the behavior from happening such as noting down pre-cursor behaviors and removing self away from the child to avoid being grabbed and redirect them to a calming activity. We also encourage teaching the child communication and coping strategies through the use of visuals and social stories. We hope that these have been helpful. Do reach out to us at enquiries@autismmalaysia.com should you have further questions or discuss further strategies that are specific to the child's behavior with one of our team. Thank you.

    having nice hands is traumatic for autistic people, since it forces them to suppress stimming. (how about stim toys?) Stimming is vital for autistics. We regulate like that. And I don't see where it would disturb other people so much that it outweighs the costs the child would have to pay. And instead of just the child having to cover their ears for a whole flight (wtf who will think it's okay to have their arms raised for hours??) the parents could just get the kid good noise cancelling headphones. I find the idea of breaking things down into steps very good, since autistics can really struggle when they don't have a plan and we need structure. However I see a huge gap of knowledge here.
